I enjoyed creating pop art portraits using gimp, which is similar to Photoshop. I uploaded my portrait photo to gimp. I edited out the text in the photo using the dropper and bucket tools. I cropped the photo and began adjusting the color using the color tools. I saved a color using the dropper and changed the photo color so I could use the saved color in the background. I created four repeating portraits that were cool, warm as well as warm and cool combinations. Gimp has effects that you can apply to your images that are fun such as weave, van Gogh and cubist filters. Teachers and students can save their work to the desktop or take a screenshot of their image. The age level for this program is middle school (5-8 grades) and high school (9-12 grades).
